M.R= My Response, T.C= Teacher’s comment

Response to Mr. R:

TC: “I like spending hours and hours shooting down anyone I see with an M4 or beating them up with a baseball bat. ” Why?

MR: It’s because it’s entertaining and I take out my anger and frustration when I’m doing this. Although it’s violent, it’s not like any real life is hurt in this video game. A video game is just a video game!
_______________________________________________________________________________________________

TC: Don’t you find this offensive: ”the message that this video game gives to females is that women become prostitutes.”
“The message that this video game gives to males is that you can become a violent man if you are forced to, choose to, or influenced by something such as drugs.”

MR: For the first quote, I stated a reason. For the second quote, maybe they aren’t forced to be violent but sometimes, some men choose to be violent. Maybe it’s because they want to have things their way (intimidation). Also some men are violent because something influenced them such as drugs. Some drugs can cause aggression and short-temperedness.

TC: Who are the criminals in this game? What race?

MR: The criminals in this game are two “dirty cops” and two of Carl Johnson’s (The main character of this story, an African-American) friends who betrayed him. The police officers are Tenpenny and Pulaski. Tenpenny is an African-American and Pulaski is an American. CJ’s friends are Big Smoke and Ryder. Both of them are African-Americans.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________

TC: “I would state that Mexicans and African-Americans are dangerous people ” What message does this send to Mexican and African-American kids?

MR: It tells Mexican and African-American kids that this is not the future they should have. They should focus on education and have a good future. If not, they will have a bad future. The message that this video game gives to Mexican and African-American kids may motivate them to get a good future.

Nicely done, but think a bit more deeply.
